I recently ran across an 'alternative' to google docs some of you may have heard of before called Mopad. It's similar to Google Docs in that it allows instantaneous collaboration on a document, but I feel it has two main strengths over Google Docs from an RP perspective:
First, MoPad automatically highlights an individual's text in a selected color. This means you don't have to waste time selecting text, selecting your color, etc etc. It's a small fix, but a nice one.
Second, it has a persistent "chat" sidebar that anyone can use (as opposed to Google Docs only letting logged in people use it), which is useful for OOC chat.
