This piece is only based on the general observations of what I’ve seen during the past year and a half. The problem that I’ve observed is the basic gentrification of the factions. What I mean by this is that it doesn’t matter really in what faction you choose for your character to be part of. This is about what we have available in-game bit more on the role play front.
Have noticed that more and more of a turn away from inter faction conflict, more of a general faction that’s not really one side or the other. True in that we know that their is a area of the game in which the factions actively fight against each other but the stories or role play that floats around publicly is geared more towards the cooperative nature between the factions. Not to say that this is a bad thing, far from it but have not seen much if not any kind of open conflicts between the factions.
Of course this would bring up the issues of dealing with things OOC. To that I say, it shouldn’t. Your characters are not you. What you do or others say or do is in no way a reflection of the player controlling that character. Because you the player don’t like a character should not reflect how your character reacts. You are not your character.
If someone wants to plan a role play that goes against the norm or brings in conflict against a particular faction. Let them as there are others that wish to partake in that role play. To come after them OOC’ly because you feel that you won’t like it is only serving in furthering the shrinking nature of the role play community in TSW. Those people will not only withdraw their ideas and effort from the community but will also speak to their friends and associates about the quality of the role players within the community.
