((After spending a few weeks about my char background this is what I came up with. Let me know what you think and how can I improve it. I apologise for the typos))
Early Years
Ianarosh Revnik, son of a Scottish farm girl and a gypsy man. He also had a younger sister who was his only friend. His father was forsaken by his whole family for marrying a woman who wasn’t a gypsy the only exception was his grandmother - Ian’s great grandmother.
Since an early age that Ian showed an interest to the supernatural world and the contact with spirits. At the age of 15, Klara - his great grandmother - gave him a tome called The Book of the Death. Which told many stories about the death, some rites, and spells - It was mostly a white magic book.
As Ian grew older his inclination for supernatural grew as well. In his room bookshelf, there were a few magic books and artifacts (graveyard soil, a horn from a slaughtered cow, a cat’s skull just to name a few.)
But this passion for the supernatural world always casted him away from popularity and friends, growing up mostly alone. He was often seen as that weird kid in school, one could say that he didn’t have an easy time at school
First Contact with the supernatural
When his grandfather passed away the family farm was left to Ian’s parents along with the huge house where his grandfather lived. In addition to the farm and house, his grandfather also left them a large sum of money.
His family moved from South London to the farm in Scotland and soon they’ve found that strange things happened in the house, such as banging noises, feet shuffling on the floor, whispers and occasional some cries.
This was when Ian start seeing shadows and feel presences. With a big curiosity, he tried to contact the spirits that haunted the house with hopes of bringing them rest and making them leave the house. These attempts were a failure, but they made Ian more sensible to the spirit world and made him study more books about such matters.
The Tragedy
Ian’s bound with his sister was as strong as it gets and they were practically inseparable. Even with Ian’s fascination with the spirit world, her sister always tried to tag along with him and talk with him about everything.
One day after school Ian came home and waited for his sister in the living room like usual, but his sister never came and soon his parents had to report her as missing to the authorities. After few weeks of searches, no trace of her could be found.
After that, every member of the family went on a spiral of sadness and depression. Everyone, but Ian thought that she must certainly be dead.
In a desperate attempt he began researching in his books about spirits a way to summon a spirit in order to order it to seek his beloved sister. This research took months to complete and even more time to prepare. When Ian was comfortable enough with the spell and was a full moon night, he did the spell.
Surprisingly the spell worked and Ian was able to bind a powerful spirit for a whole week. But Ian was too unexperienced and young. Eventually the spirit broke free and unleashed his wrath on Ian’s house, his mom got the worse of it and went crazy. After a few weeks, she committed suicide.
If Ian’s father was broken by the loss of his daughter, the suicide of his wife destroyed him completely. He almost went catatonic and even now he barely leaves the house.
The fertile farm soil soon turned barren and nothing grew on the farm. With the years, the house started to break down and was in badly need of repairs.
The Vow
After the episode with the powerful spirit and his mom death, Ian vowed to use his knowledge to protect people and ward off evil spirits. He opened a shop in town which sold all sort of magical items such as incense, candles, books, wards and ingredients for simple warding spells.
He also worked in helping spirits finding rest and being the point of contact between the spirit world and families who wanted to talk with loved ones who departed. He did also a few exorcisms and placed wards to protect houses from bad spirits.
His shop and business went well and Ian was able to save enough money to open a new shop in central London. Although, this one wasn’t as successful as the first one because people from small villages believe more in spirits and the supernatural than the ones in a big metropolis like London.
The Templars
Opening a shop dedicated to the supernatural in London’s dark side was bound to catch the attention of the Templars. Undercover agents started paying visits to the shop inquiring about ingredients, Ian’s knowledge of the spirit world and his ways of protecting a house from spirits.
Needless to say that Ian was in the Templars radar but was seen as a foolish man who believes that a few chants can protect you from evil spirits and demons or that someone who sold funny scented candles to gullible folks.
The Bees
On a night of a lunar eclipse, Ian was closing his shop past his usual time. He had stayed inside reading a new book about mystical creatures – vampires, ghouls, demons and such. While walking down the road towards his small flat he could sense a presence and by the corner of his eye he saw a shape taking form from the shadows.
After a small prayer, Ian turned around to face the shadow, but found nothing. Unsettled, he moved briskly towards his flat, but stopped in his tracks as something that looked like hundreds of fireflies were flying around the street.
Curious as he was he approached the fireflies, they started to surround him for a few seconds and then few of them stung him in various parts of his body.
The next day
Ian woke up in his own room without any memory of arriving home. The room looked like a war zone and not even a single piece of furniture was left intact. Inspecting the other areas of his flat, he saw that the scene was the same - destruction and mess everywhere.
While trying to figure out what happened someone knocked on the door.
A blond female greeted Ian with a smile as he opened the door. As Ian was about to say something she pointed a finger towards him, a surge of energy course through Ian’s body and he felt flat on the ground unconscious.
Later he awakes in the Templars Hall…
