The city of Paris has been a Templar stronghold in the heart of Europe for hundreds of years. The city recently underwent some administrative changes after previous leaders were killed in a car crash, with Antoine Savoy being named the city’s Crown Officer, and Brittany Duval being put in the position of the city’s Enforcer. While some may not have liked Savoy, his blood and status were such that the Old Templar families of the city were satisfied.
However, troubling changes to the city were also afoot. Sanitation workers went missing deep under the streets. Soon after, tourists began to vanish. After the city’s administration failed to take sufficient action, Venice declared the city open to all agents willing to solve the problem.
Agents arriving in Paris quickly uncovered a disastrous situation. Duval had been possessed by a predatory owl spirit, named a Strix. Several ancient relics beneath the city had been activated, luring in terrifying, serpentine beasts from the countryside and amplifying them. The catacombs were infested with corpse golems made from the bodies of dead Templars, and a Templar Healing House had kidnapped an injured Illuminati and kept her sedated for days, for unknown reasons.
Needless to say, the situation has been dire.
The agents are making Paris safe again, through considerable effort. Slowly but surely, they are fighting back the forces in the underground, evacuating innocents from the catacombs, and the Inquisition has taken the Strix into custody. There may be growing unrest on the topside of the city, but the underground is slowly coming around.
And yet, there is a set of names, whispered again and again:
Nicodemus and Melanie.
Nicodemus is the Nicodemus of legend and Biblical verses, and Melanie seems to serve him. It is more important than ever that Paris is under the right leadership, someone who can tend to the days ahead. In the meantime, it is up to agents of Venice to find Nicodemus and Melanie... and stop them.
