VENETIAN REPORT #5
REGARDING THE DAWNBREAK/R7 CASE
VENETIAN LEAD: DARIUS POWELL
At this point, it seems a folly to call this the Knight-Captain Cassandra Arbuthnot case - the woman is hardly even a player in events at this point. However, events are continuing to develop, and the situation still requires monitoring from Venice. Let's get started, shall we?
Gillian Zhuge visits the Knight-Captain at Area 51. Knight-Captain Arbuthnot - now Havelock, married to her Witch Hunter husband in a bedside ceremony - warns Zhuge to only trust three men in Temple Hall - Russel Kobayashi, Derek Havelock, and Richard Sonnac. Zhuge takes this advice to heart, and begins to hunt down the corruption she feels must be evidence in the Hall. The details of Zhuge's visit to Area 51 can be found here.
Knight-Commander Liam Truss, Conway Walker, and I meet in Venice to discuss the current status of Knight-Captain Havelock's location. Truss is unable to come up with a compelling argument for her medical transfer to London, and Walker invokes Venetian laws. In fact, the acts of Templar agents such as Alexandra Lynch in the past make a compelling argument for Knight-Captain Havelock to be held and questioned. For now, it is determined the Knight-Captain will remain in Area 51. The details of our conversation can be found here.
Jericho Blake is ordered by his superior at the Toolbox, Alice Glenisle, to acquire the Dragon agent Xue Zhang. After the death of David Doyle and Zhang's interference with the raid on Kevin Fowler's company Friendly Consulting, Glenisle demands retribution against the Dragon. Blake "acquires" Zhang from downtown Toronto, bringing her back to New York City for questioning. Zhang cooperates with Blake after initial questioning, admitting that the Dawnbreak have acquired their Orochi tech through a Dragon agent named "Bang". Zhang also shares the fact that Cassandra has been successfully converted into a sleeper agent, her activation phrase being "Dawn is breaking, lion cub" and her deactivation phrase being "You are who we say you are." The details of Blake and Zhang's interactions can be found here. As a 'thank you' for her cooperation, she is released later in the week.
Blake visits the Knight-Captain immediately after in Area 51, and discovers that the codes Zhang gave him do, in fact, work. The Knight-Captain is immediately locked down as a security risk. The details of this "test session" can be found here.
Conway Walker questions Cassandra the next morning in his first session to be submitted to Venice. The two discuss Kate Burnet, Elisha Wright, and Alexandra Lynch. Venice has deemed this a fruitful session. The details can be found here.
Gillian Zhuge reaches out to Derek Havelock; the two meet in her apartment to discuss the Dawnbreak and potential corruption in Temple Hall. They discuss Truss, the circumstances of Cass's mission, David Doyle, and Russell Kobayashi. The details of their conversation can be found here.
Ian Rothcraft-Glenisle infiltrates Olivia Bass, the Dawnbreak's accountant's apartment. He finds that Bass is in on the conspiracy and their darkest secrets, as well as being a close and personal friend of Ezekiel King in some capacity. He pulls a list of donators from her computer, and escapes without leaving a trace. The details of his infiltration can be found here.
Edith Kemp begins the process of deprogramming Cassandra Havelock. The deprogramming, and the details thereof, can be found here. Agents are warned that this is intense reading that depicts torture and other disturbing acts.
The next morning, Eve van der Kirk and Saint Jude visit Cassandra. Her psychological state is delicate, and the visit ends on a sour note. The details can be found here.
The three remaining Dawnbreak cells are raided by agents.
Grace Mereland and Derek Havelock tackle the converted bowling alley in Los Angeles - the details of their raid can be found here.
Marli Anderson infiltrates the Seoul cell, located on a residential street. She positions herself as a leader and guide to the Dawnbreak in the city. The details of this can be found here.
Ashleigh DeFlemsey and Jericho Blake assault the New York cell. Not only do they perform a clean raid, but they acquire the Illuminati supercomputer that calls itself R7, augmented with stolen Orochi tech. The details of their raid - and their conversation with R7 - can be found here.
Meanwhile, Elisha Wright, with the full blessing of Temple Hall, continues to wreak havoc through the Secret World, taking out assorted Dawnbreak cells of varying sizes with a mixture of hell magic, explosives, and Cass's group of Knights. The Dawnbreak call her Four Feet of Death. The nickname was meant to be an insult, but it quickly becomes whispered with genuine fear.
Sarah Willis's favours through contacts and contacts of contacts pay off, and she finds that Bill Towser, recent Dawnbreak convert and fervent recruiter for the cause, is currently laying low in Brampton, Ontario.
Finally, Toolbox unlocks the Dawnbreak cypher, and the following pieces of information are released.
The London cell was in contact with a Witch Hunter named Arlene Barossa. Barossa is currently dark, last stationed in Texas. She is on duty. A Witch Hunter or Templar officer may be able to find out more about Barossa's current location.
The Dawnbreak's donators include a man who calls himself The Templar's Dawn, an Illuminati named Elle St. Clair, and Kirk Bass, an entrepreneur who's famous in the tech field for his storage formats.
Kevin Fowler's records reveal that the Knight-Captain was part of a transaction between The Templar's Dawn and The Dawnbreak - the mission was rigged the entire time to lead to her capture. She never stood a chance. It is also revealed that the way she was tortured was remarkably effective because it's been perfected and honed many times before - by the Malleus Maleficarum, AKA the Witch Hunters. Furthermore, Fowler writes that King's terminal condition has worsened in previous years. It is uncertain how much time the Dawnbreak's leader has left.
