Burnt Offerings Bakery

On the corner of Abthelburga Row and the alley to the Haitian market lies Burnt Offerings Bakery. While it is a little shabby on the outside, the inside is clean and homey. As you enter the glass door has a cheerful set of brass bells that tinkle from a hook at the top. The lino on the floor is rust colored and there are rustic wood shelves full of bread by the picture windows. A long glass cabinet holds row upon row of pastry and the main counter is white with a honeycomb overlay. Next to the cash register is a display of business cards. Written in chalk on a wall painted black above a window to the kitchen is a listing of all the offerings for the day. There are two round tables with four chairs each against the back wall. A narrow stair leads up to the second floor and there is a cheerful yellow plastic chain and sign slung across it. The sign is decorated in bees and says "No Public Restrooms." You walk up to the counter and see a little silver bell that is painted with bees and scrolled writing that says "Ring for Service!"
