Lycans within TSW

Wanting to start up a discussion in certain aspects of game lore and story telling within the Secret World setting and one of these is on Lycans (werewolves)?

We know that there are plenty of werewolves roaming around Transylvania and do we really know the process of what happens to a human when confronted by one? Is it like what you would find in typical folklore in that becoming bite or scratched by one will start your journey in becoming one?

Could have sworn I read somewhere that Most of the werewolves are under the control of the vampires. They are always in hybrid form , there is not wolf, or man form. They are blood crazed when young but eventually regain their sanity as they age. Also isnt there a quest line where you save someone in Transylvania who got scratched and becomes a wolf mid quest? The acrobat brothers or something.

Supposedly it's a disease, and in countries with advanced healthcare they actually have a vaccine for it I am pretty sure. At least I remember reading that once after finishing a mission. So as far as spreading goes, I think it might be saliva, though claws might work too. Maybe a bit like rabies? I am doing a werewolfish character as well, though he gets his abilities from an artifact, so he can shapeshift without breaking the lore too hard. Something I would add to the bit about sanity, I remember the NPC saying he got called somewhere up in the mountains, and that's where the "Longtooths" reside somewhat peacefully.

Saliva would be a very believable method of transmission. Whether from a bite or such, a scratch from a claw would transmit other things if the hygiene was less than stellar.

From what I remember, it's as Pattern-Weld and Umbramouse say. It seems to be a transmutable disease. There doesn't seem to be any indication that the full-moon is of any importance and I am not sure if silver actually does anything, (though a stake/cross seems to according to one quest when you try them on ghouls, werewolves and vampires).

They don't seem to have very long life-spans, if only because when they're young they are blood-crazed. More like animal than man. I think this does lead to more pack-like behaviour. The ones that can't think clearly are more easily led by older, (likely wiser) and the more intelligent of their kin/allies. It's like an adolescent phase.

I do remember, in one of the side issues (the one with the child), there is some more info that you find in the Orochi facility. I can't remember it off the top of my head, though.
